Due to Coronavirus Effect Google & Facebook has implemented a temporary ban on the Promotional Ads For Medical Face Masks.
Google Ban Ads for Medical Face Masks As Coronavirus Spreads
Google spokesperson has confirmed that they are actively monitoring the situation and will continue to take action as required for the protection of the users. However, It may take a few days to delete all existing active ads for medical face masks. Therefore, you may still found some in your searches.
Also as of now, Google only restricting the ads for medical face masks. But, the way they said it will “continue” to take action “if required.” In future, we may witness the ban on other types of ads as well, depends on the situation.
Facebook – The First Platform to Restrict the Ads
Google was a 2nd online platform who implemented the ban on promotional ads related to medical face masks, Facebook did the same even one day before Google.
The Head of the Trust & Integrity Team (At Facebook Ads), Mr Rob Leathern said:-
“We’re banning ads and commerce listings selling medical face masks. We’re monitoring COVID19 closely and will make necessary updates to our policies if we see people trying to exploit this public health emergency. We’ll start rolling out this change in the days ahead.”
Instagram Might be the Next Platform in the List
It seems Instagram might also follow the same option and may apply the ban of such ads. Find the statement of Mr Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram below:
“Supplies are short, prices are up, and we’re against people exploiting this public health emergency. We’ll start rolling this out over the next few days.”
